When we are younger we go to school. The girl/boy sitting next to you seems nice. You strike up a conversation. You play at recess then you go to lunch... Find out you live down the street... Then you are friends. It's so easy when you are a kid. High school, you join clubs, have the same classes. Again fairly easy. But dear god!!! Adulthood is the pits for making friends!! Until you have kids of your own. Lol.
My daughter was in love... Nay obsessed with these button eyed dolls. I found them creepy. Very Coraline and odd. However, my daughter loved them. So we indulged. She got her first one for Christmas. The next one Valentines. Of course her brother wanted one too! Lol. So again we indulged.
I joined a Facebook page and started talking to other ladies in regards to various dolls and what not. I met some amazing ladies on line of which I still talk to. Even better tho, I have made some amazing friends out here in Vegas all because of dolls.... That our daughters loved.
The first one was because of the first boy doll. We were invited us over for her daughters birthday party. Well needless to say we clicked. Many tea parties, dinners and get togethers later. The dolls are fading but the friendship remains strong and we have moved on to other fun obsessions.
Then came the next friend same reason... Different story. We met in a parking lot in Barnes and Noble. Her daughter and ours are the best of friends.
Then there was one who actually moved from the other side of the country. We actually happened to bond over the Olympics. Many months and parties later
Her daughter and ours again another BFF story :)
These ladies are my "grown up" friends. We met because of our daughters, but we remained friends because we found something in each other that we needed. Friends, family; all for one, one for all. I'm so very lucky to have found them. ❤
They made what felt very impossible (making friends as an adult) so very easy. And during this stressful time in my life I'm so very lucky to have them ❤

A "novel" idea
So today as I was sitting at the DMV it came to my attention that I could read!! I mean actually sit down, crack a book and read uninterrupted until my number had been called. It was such a, shall I say it, NOVEL idea! How odd.
I remember once upon a time the only thing in life was reading. The next page, chapter, book. It was the beginning of a new adventure. The only thing that I needed to have done was my chores and homework. Then I could curl up on my bed, couch, closet (I had to hide from my sister somewhere). I would just read.... For hours! My best friends in the whole world were characters from my books! Whether it was Laura Ingles Wilder, or the Egypt Game I was hooked. Time stood still as I sat and read.
Then one day the inevitable happened. I became an adult. Along with adulthood came bills, a job, parenthood and responsibility. I then lost my will to read and my time. No more books to just sit and pour over. There were no more nights of staying up till one, two, three am just to read one-more-chapter. Why not??? Because I had turned into a mom?? Hell no! I wasn't about to let that happen. This book worm was gonna thrive! And how you ask?! She started reading ... To her kids. :)
It's a joke that my son came out of the womb reading. I swear he did and has loved reading since he was able to hold a book. My daughter wasn't quite as eager but is learning to read and she is loving the independence that she gathers from sounding out difficult words. The fact that my kids are meeting Harry Potter, Huck Finn, and Alice, and the Darling children gives me such joy. I love that I have given them this gift of reading and that they enjoy it as much as I.
So as I sit here realizing that I am now writing instead of reading ... I give you this challenge. In your busy life find 30 minutes to find your best friends again. Look between the beat up, worn out copy of what ever book you hold dear. They are still there, just ready to be brought back to life with a new generation of readers...
Until Something Wicked blows in... I'm off to read. <3

And the Oscar goes to....
Since I was a kid I have been obsessed with Hollywood, stars, fashion, makeup you name it. I love it. Not a mild obsession... No a full blown almost stalker like obsession. I love it all. The drama, the comedy, the everything all encompassing goriness that is THE OSCARS!
Yes like hundreds or millions of little girls (and most gay men) I too have given the speech of Hollywoods most coveted award. The golden man himself. Using my hair brush... Telling Joan who I wearing (and because in my head I'm multitalented I made my own frock). The jewels, Harry Winston of course... The shoes, the bag. The whole gamut. Do I need a stylist... Do I look like I need a stylist!? Hell no!! I AM a stylist!! :)
Enter wistful sigh. Yes I have done it all. Now I settle with having my entire day be scheduled by the all mighty television and follow E from morning till the Oscars are on. I love to watch the red carpet. I love the hair styles (yay Reese Witherspoon) I love the shoes (those Giuseppe shoes were to die for) the dresses (too many to name).
I sat on my couch and ate and watched and drooled and cried. I screamed with laughter and rolled my eyes. And that was just the red carpet!? Don't ask me who won... Besides Anne Hathaway (with the unfortunate darting) I really don't remember... Ask me the dresses now that I can spout off!
Long live the Oscars and the fashion that comes out of it. The hairstyles, the jewelry. Oh yeah.. And the talent ;)
Until something wicked blows this way... Happy movie watching.

Accessories apocalypse
The wind is blowing outside that I'm afraid, were i to venture out, a house might fall upon me. My clothes might blow away and I would be left in a scarf and my all together! Lol!!
Speaking of scarves... Has anyone noticed how dominated we are by accessories anymore. Scarves, hats, necklaces (ranging from tiny to the bigger the better chunky), earrings (much with the same philosophy), rings, shoes, purses the list goes on. We have stores built on this need to accessorize. Forever 21, Charming Charlie's just to name a few. Boutiques that pair dresses, pants, shirt, it would look so much better with... I have to be honest. I am LOVING the trend. I love that I can wear a pair of jeans and a sweater then dress it up or down with the perfect accessories. Enter in the aforementioned ginormous bracelet, necklaces etc.
Gone or the days of, take one thing off before you leave. Now it's more like add on two more before you leave!
My best friend has a serious obsession with scarves. I love shoes! It's just an on going illness that seem to have no cure. And frankly, I don't want it! Lol. This is one apocalypse I'm happy to be apart of! Laughing in my ever growing pile, jewelry armoires, drawers, closets.... The list goes on....
Until something wicked blows in (and with this wind it's bound to) I bid you farewell.

My obsession!
So this is my first attempt at blogging, so please forgive the rough edges! :) There are so many things that I love from fashion, to make up, animals, you name it! I was never able to narrow my obsession down from one thing to another. Guess that is why my house looks like it suffers from multiple personality disorder. LOL!! Just a little bit of everything. I have so much that I want to share so I thought I would start blogging about it! :)
My first wicked obsession is this: So simple its silly but....
I love AQUAPHOR!! The stuff is amazing!! I use it for any dry patch, chapped lips, and if I just want my lips to have a bit of shine! The best part...its freaking CHEAP! LOL!! For 3.5oz it's $3 and you can even get it in a tube! It's also safe enough to use on kids! Check it out...you won't be sorry!! <3
Until Something Wicked blows in again...
